Cost to Attend

Tuition cost varies based upon classification in the following categories:

  • Full-time student (enrolled for 12 or more semester hours)

  • Part-time student (enrolled for less than 12 semester hours)

  • Resident of Tennessee - as defined by policy of the Tennessee Board of Regents for fee payment purposes.

  • Non-Residents of Tennessee

  • Undergraduate (pursuing a bachelor's degree or enrolled for undergraduate courses for vocational or avocational reasons)

  • On-Line courses/ Regents On Line Degree Program (RODP)

  • International student

  • Graduate (pursuing a degree beyond the bachelors or enrolled for graduate courses for vocational or avocational reasons - excludes the James H. Quillen College of Medicine and Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy)

    Current Tuition (2011 - 2012)

    Fees are subject to change on an annual basis. International students should include funding for 10 - 11 weeks of breaks and other required expenses. Additional fees may be required based on the delivery method of the course or for specific majors. 

    Application Fee

    The application fee for new applicants (U.S. residents) seeking undergraduate admission is $15.00 for fall 2011 and $25 for spring 2012 and after. This is a non-refundable, one-time fee. International applicants on the undergraduate level pay a $25.00 application fee.

    University Housing

    There is no requirement for students to live on campus. Residence halls and apartment units are available for single men and women on campus. The cost range for double occupancy is $1,340.00 - $2,225.00 per semester, depending upon the facility. Additional university apartments are available to a limited number of students and to married students. Information can be obtained from the Office of Housing and Residence Life.

    Meal Programs

    Various meal programs are available but are not required. Students may choose the program which best meets their individual needs. Depending upon the number of meals per week, costs range from $399.00 - $1,299.00. Please visit Campus Dining webpage for more information.


    The estimated cost for textbooks for full-time students is $500.00 - $700.00 per semester. For more information on purchasing books, please visit the ETSU Bookstore.
